  • Systematic Inspection Design (SID)
  • This CPI-developed method allows the end user to strategically inspect high-risk areas based on known or probable damage mechanisms affecting that particularly service. For example, instead of a typical "API 653" tank inspection, which is based primarily on general thinning mechanisms, the SID process focuses on identifying localized erosion, corrosion, and cracking - primary DM's that are more likely in most industrial settings. The SID process can be implemented on the following equipment:

    • Tile-lined Tanks, Towers and Chests
  • Risk-Based Assessments (RBA)
  • In a CPI-developed mechanical integrity program, each piece of equipment has its own, tailored inspection plan that includes probable damage mechanisms, inspection planning requirements, locations and methods for inspection, future inspection intervals and a RBA, which takes into account process conditions, materials of construction, current condition, and the effects of downtime associated with a failure. Results of this assessment provide the end user with detailed information as to when and why inspection intervals are set as well as why access is needed to certain areas of the equipment. Our team of engineers, with knowledge in all areas of mechanical integrity, materials of construction, and process controls provide simplified assessments without the major cost of highly quantitative and cumbersome RBAs.

  • Integrity Evaluation and Analysis
  • Let CPI's experience in materials, failure modes, and appropriate application of design and in-service inspection and repair codes and standards work for you - knowledge in all of these areas is crucial in getting the highest level of evaluation and analysis.

  • Fitness-for-Service Evaluations per API 579-1/ASME FFS-1
  • FFS evaluations utilize comprehensive strength calculations and flaw criteria to determine if a tank/vessel is still capable of operating safely - even if, for example, there is a crack in a weld or a locally corroded area leaves the remaining thickness below the design code's minimum required value. FFS evaluation methods are less conservative than design and in-service codes and standards, providing a whole new level of evaluating flaws to determine if the affected equipment truly is worth repairing or can be left in service, as is.

  • Welding is essential to piping, structural members, tanks and vessels. There are many facets to consider with weld design, particularly if the weld is structurally load bearing or subjected to vibration or chemical attack.
