Firm Profile

Founded in 1984, Corrosion Probe, Inc. (CPI), has built an international reputation for providing consulting, engineering design and technical support for structural rehabilitation, corrosion control and prevention, quality control and quality assurance (QC/QA), inspection, condition assessment, and specialty nondestructive testing (NDT) services to clients in the pulp and paper, chemical, pharmaceutical industries and municipal water and waste water industries throughout the U.S. and Canada. Our extensive experience and multi-disciplinary capabilities also bring solid forensic expertise in failure analysis and accident investigation.

CPI's roots specializing in corrosion control design, testing and inspection services explain the company's name. However, our professional capabilities in corrosion prevention and control have evolved and expanded over the decades to include:

  • Corrosion control and prevention - testing, analysis, and design
  • Civil/structural engineering, including materials engineering and testing
  • Failure analysis and prevention
  • Structural rehabilitation - technical design and project support
  • Condition assessment and fitness-for service evaluations for structures and equipment
  • Mechanical integrity evaluations and equipment reliability improvement
  • Metallurgical engineering and testing
  • Specifications for coatings, linings, metals, and FRP
  • Masonry design and testing
  • Welding engineering and inspection
  • NDE and materials testing
  • Quality management for projects involving any of these technical areas

We routinely provide comprehensive inspection and QC/QA services in all the technical areas listed above and in other construction areas, including piping, tanks, FRP and other plastics, protective coatings, roofing, grouting (equipment), and waterproofing.

Our experienced, knowledgeable engineers and technicians successfully combine civil/structural, mechanical, metallurgical, electrical, and corrosion engineering disciplines with our extensive practical knowledge of equipment and related damage mechanisms to help our clients solve their corrosion and materials problems as practically, reliably and cost-effectively as possible.

In addition to CPI's headquarters is in Centerbrook, CT, our regional offices are geographically spread throughout the continental United States, such that we can rapidly respond to our customers' needs wherever they are located.

CPI's business philosophy is not based on the branch office mentality. Rather, our focus is to offer responsive site services when and where needed. We have a well-coordinated management team that can establish site offices, communications, testing equipment, and appropriate staffing with technical field support and back-up on a project-need basis. We call this Responsive Staffing. It offers our clients the expertise they need expediently and only for as long as they really need it. For any given discipline, once the customer's needs on-site have been met, our approach is to reduce the coverage to the level necessary. This Responsive Staffing concept has consistently provided our customers with the expertise required using a more cost-effective approach than the conventional field staffing methods used by many of our competitors.
